From the very beginning, we received terrible half-hearted service, feeling completely belittled and discriminated against for our young age and our status as "first time homebuyers". From the get-go, they had our down payment incorrect...consistently. over and over, we received incorrect loan drafts stating the wrong amount for our down payment. We felt pressured to choose an FHA when we asked more than once to look at only conventional loans due to our good credit and large down payment amount. They made it sound like we were burdening them with a mistake that they made in the first place. This whole process we felt like we had a gun pointed to our head to get things to them. At one point in the process I was genuinely so overwhelmed with short timelines (literally within one days notice we had to get them certain information or else we would be considered "default") that I ended up having a panic attack. This company has brought me to tears and made me feel completely worthless and unknowledgeable about the entire process. We ended up going to Stewardship, a smaller, family oriented company that gave us the interest rate we wanted and the closing costs we wanted. We worked with a man named Jarred who made us "mortgage experts". We saved thousands going through a different lender even though academy was our "preferred lender". And heads up to anyone about to do business with this terrible company: They were #1 in the state of Arizona for the highest profit margin across the board for mortgages. Do your research and find a completely different lender.

This was our 2nd experience working with Academy Mortgage in the past 5 years. Our first time around was a regular 30-year FHA loan to purchase our current home & then 5 years later we took advantage of a refinance opportunity incorporating a 30-year conventional loan. Each time the services of Academy Mortgage were top-notch and packed with professionalism & expertise. Jason, Chris & Lisa made the entire experience as painless as it could possibly be. Whenever we had questions regarding the loan process, those questions were answered quickly and professionally by either Jason or Chris. Corbin moved things along, and with his assistant Amy Coates, he was quick to cover and collect anything that had potential to delay the process. Even as we got close to the closing date, Corbin worked overtime to tie up every loose end. Overall, the entire office at Academy Mortgage was so positive, it made me wish that I could work there! They praised each other up, laughed and joked around, but worked incredibly hard at getting things done as quickly and painlessly as possible. I can’t make a strong enough recommendation - you must experience it for yourself!
