My mortgage was sold to Cenlar less than a year after I purchased my first home. I had absolutely no problems with that transition. Several months ago, I received an escrow analysis that did not recognize my homestead exemption. I called Cenlar and asked how to correct. The customer service rep was straight-forward and informative. She gave me all the necessary information, and I followed her instructions. I followed-up by email over the following weeks to ensure my documents were received. Every time I emailed, I received a response from a person within 24 business hours. In the meantime, I paid the incorrect mortgage total to maintain my credit. In appox one month, I received a correct escrow analysis and a check for the overage on my mortgage. Hence, I have had absolutely no problems with this company. I asked simple, direct questions, received simple, direct answers, and followed the instructions. I admit, I was somewhat anxious when I read all of these negative reviews, but my experience was vastly different.
Horrible customer service! My loan was just transferred to them, and they charged a rush processing fee for my first mortgage payment to them. When I called to have it removed, because the bill they sent me was already paid to the previous mortgage company, Jonathan (refused to give last name, but gave me C15 instead), claims the fee cannot be removed. He said it was because a mortgage payoff was requested 3 times (which we did not request), and we did not even start the refinance process until after we received the bill with the fees on it, so I am not sure how it would have had anything to do with it. He also said that additional fees would be added on the next bill. Sorry, but I refuse to do business with companies that care more about the almighty dollar, than taking care of the customer. Permanently adding to boycott list. I recommend anyone else run from them as fast as you can! The only company worse than them is Wells Fargo.
My ID here is for another business we run but my comments on Cenlar are related to a recent refinance my wife and I did with Loan Depot. Loan Depot has outsourced servicing to Cenlar and it could end up costing them dearly. Our experience has been consistent with the reviews. Loan Depot could have made a critical error here in contracting with them. But some of our issue also has to be owned by Loan Depot. Anytime a firm outsources or "up tasked" components (especially service) they MUST insure they remain in the front end - at least from a client satisfaction and visibility to issues perspective. It Cenlar sucks then Loan Depot or any other party who contracted with them need to take up the fight for their customers. Unfortunately, that is not the case here. Those who contract with Cenlar better take notice and get in front of this or it could cost them dearly.
The WORST customer service. NOT ONE COMPETENT PERSON WORKS HERE. I have been on the phone for 2 hours trying to PAY THEM. Transferred to the wrong department countless times. Hung up on twice. The people who work at this call service are rude but even worse they have no idea what they are talking about. I was given information by one person & then transferred to another who told me that the information given to me was incorrect. This happen again & again. I could go on for pages but there is already 2 hours of my life gone that I will never get back. I have never written a review about a call center but this experience compelled me to do so. If there was any way I could transfer my business elsewhere I would.
i worst company ever.. cenlar bought out my mortgage company back in oct. i was informed by cenlar not to make my first payment until i received my first statement from them. when i finally got my bill in the mail the statement said it was already past due. when i called cenlar they kept me on hold 45 mins only to tell me it was nothing they could do to help me because they dont have any record of me talking to anyone there. JUST BOGUS!!! and on top of that cenlar reported on my credit delinquent. i am in the process of disputing the charges. PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH CENLAR THEY WILL MESS YOUR CREDIT UP!!
Worst Company EVER!!! They did not pay our taxes that were due told us to fax over all the information which we did 3 times claim they never received it. Finally sent out the payment and by then it was late and they sent it to the wrong place. Still owe for the late fee, gave them all the information on where to over night the payment too and that it is due by the 31st and still have not sent it out. Asked them to email me the tracking # so I can make sure it was sent out and received and still no email. Call and get a different answer every time.
They assumed our original loan and the service has been absolutely terrible. They increased our mortgage twice in one year. It takes at least 30 minutes to speak with a representative no matter the time of day. Their website is poorly designed. They need to update their systems because you cannot send them paperwork through their site or email but by fax only and the paperwork that they fax out is barely discernible. Their lack of proper and detailed communication is appalling. If there was an option to give negative stars, I would.
I just had a really negative experience with someone named Ebony. I was in a good mood when I called in. I was polite and cheerful but every response was deadpan and negative. That was the most negative experience I have had. She was extremely condescending. Not good! I have worked in customer service on the phone so I am always extra nice and friendly with them. It would be nice if they returned the favor. I was in a good mood, now not so much. Thanks Ebony... you need to go to a customer service phone class.
Worst company I have ever dealt with. Let my flood insurance lap even after reminding them multiple times which canceled my flood insurance during hurricane season,,,in Coastal Carolina. Sent me $400 for escrow overage then said I was $509 short on escrow. These people are the most incompetent people in the mortgage industry. Can never get anyone to return a phone call. Half the time their number hangs up on you when saying transferring to the operator. They really are pathetic
This mortgage company is TERRIBLE!! The customer service reps are NOT knowledgeable. I am currently going through an ordeal regarding a PID issue for my area. 1 of their reps said it would be paid by them. Now, I am finding out that it wasnt paid. They are saying they never received the bill only a cover page yet I was never contacted by them. Now I am going to be the one paying the bill as well as a late fee due to the bill being delinquent now!!
This is worst company ever. I have never written a review and never thought that one day I will actually be writing this. The customer service is so horrible, none of your questions get answered, you get push around from one person to the other. I personally think that this company is fraud and needs to be investigated. My loan was sold to them and ever since I have regretted buying house. Avoid them if you can. This company is horrible
This is the WORST company I have ever done business in my life. My loan got bought out by them and they failed to send me bills on time and 3 months later send me a bill for almost $6000. They refused it was their fault. This is a company with worst costumer service on this planet. Third world countries have better costumer service then this crappy business. Stay away from them becouse they will screw you over big time
Literally the worst experience I have ever encountered with a company. The customer service is terrible. They constantly screw up your escrow and then try to hit you with fees for their screw ups. I am honestly ready to refinance just to get away from this terrible company. I am filing a complaint with consumer financing. I suggest everyone else do the same and get this scam of a company shut down.
If this company buys your Mortgage Re-Finance with another company as fast as you can. Terrible customer service you can never reach the same person twice so when you speak to someone you better make sure they documented that conversation.... They never call you back and have a knack for screwing up your escrow. Be very aware about this company when they are handling your Mortgage SHADY!!!!!!!!!
This out-fit is trying to run what seems to me to be either incompetence or fraud re home-owners insurance. They are billing me over $8000.00 per year for a 2 BR condo worth some $30,000 and with the material structure already fully covered by the condo association. Talking with them is laughable. Promised re-calls are never made. The state of South Carolina should look deeply into their methods.
They are the worst, I mean the worst. Even there corporate office is horrible. I have never missed a payment, their customer service is outsourced and let me tell you, they are disgusting. I am actually going through a re fi to get away from them.. One should have to do this, but they are the WORST!!! DO NOT LET YOUR LENDER SELL TO THEM TO SERVICE YOUR LOAN. I agree the website is terrible and the customer service goes right along with it. Very unknowledgeable staff that desperately needs training!! These folks DO NOT have answers to anything you ask. Long wait times and just plain out right lousy company. For a mortgage company that handles millions of dollars in loans they should be investigated for their poor servicing. Waste of time.
The worst company ever!! In 22 years after being sold to Cenlar credit rating down the toilet due to erroneous reports of late payments. Every month for 6 straight months. Then you call and can never get anyone who knows what is going on. It is absolutely ridiculous. They only have 2 complaints listed on the BBB website. I know we can all do better if each one complains.
This company is horrible, if you can keep your mortgage from this company, I would burn my house down to do so. This company is bad in every way, including their website that tries to get you to miss payments because it is so un-user friendly that I would prefer to walk my payment to their door even if it is not located in my own state. Beware, horrible company.
They exploit any loophole possible to raise even fixed-rate, sensible, and contractually obligated loan rates in order to try to take them from their homes. When one attempts to resolve any unfair or unmanageable assessment practices, this company has no problem ignoring what is fair, and embracing what is lucrative for them. They prioritize profit over people.
Horrible customer service and ridiculous website for bill pay. I’ve been locked out of my account for two months & they still haven’t received a response. When you finally get a representative, they are far from polite which you think they would at least be pleasant after listening to a recording for three minutes just to speak with them
Incompetent beyond words. Mis-calculates escrow on incorrect information and fails to correct it when provided repeatedly with appropriate documentation. I have been trying to get them to correct my tax and insurance for the past month to no avail this far. Horrible, horrible customer service and processing time for any documentation.
The procedures at this company are horrible - They lie on the phone and try to hide behind process, they owe me 6,500 dollars, and now it has been 6 weeks, they keep trying to say the check is in the mail 3 times, unless it is coming pony express they LIE! FRAUD ALERT - BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES!

If I could give Negative stars I would. I did not choose them as another person stated on their review. They are horrible. They messed up from the beginning. They get documentation and then give you 10 different answers. The reps are rude and disrespectful. Stay away!
Absolute worst company to deal with that I have ever encountered. No one knows what is going on with account. Countless conversations with conflicting answers. Customer Service agents are very, very nice, but the information they provide is very inaccurate.
An error on their behalf raised my monthly payment by $175. When I called and asked for an explanation, I spoke with 3 people before it made sense to me. At the end of the day, I owed that money due to an error that had absolutely nothing to with me.
